A successful evening held in Waipukarau led by Regional Lead, Georgia Massie with lots of fun, laughter and a few curly questions! Was a great opportunity to catch up and have a laugh!

At this LEAP event we had two speakers - Jacqueline Rowarth and Elle Perriam. We undertook two development activities, including a collaboration activity and writing a letter to your future self!

HAT WINE AND ZOOM: COVID EDITION

A fun catch up during New Zealand Covid-19 lockdown. The aim was to connect and discuss the progress of becoming an Incorporated Society. This included discussions of forming a organisation committee. It was a great chance to meet and socialise (remotely) with a range of Women in Agribusiness!

SINEAD LEAHY

February 11, 2020

In this meeting we had an excellant talk from Dr Sinead Leahy from the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre (NZAGRC). Sinead is the NZAGRC International Capability and Training Coordinator. Sinead joined NZAGRC in October 2016 on secondment from AgResearch. Sinead supports the NZAGRC international team to deliver of its commitments outlined in its annual capability building plan. She has always being interested in science and love agriculture for the people, the culture, the industry. She believes the world is changing and the agricultural sector will need to adapt if we are to find ways to grow more food to feed a rising population without damaging the earth’s environment.
She is passionate about the research she does and loves being at the forefront of innovative cutting-edge science that leads change but equally she loves putting on her gumboots on and heading out and talking to people on the ground. She enjoys working on research projects which look to accelerate knowledge development and mitigation solutions in greenhouse gas research. Sinead talked to us about her career path, learnings along the way and her current role at NZAGRC!

COMMUNICATIONS AND BRANDING

February 2019

At this event we had two speakers and a chance to mix and mingle and meet other aspiring Women in Agribusiness. The event was held following the FLRC Conference in Palmerston North.

CommuniKate - Kate Taylor is an agricultural writer for rural companies and organisations, including NZ Farmer and Stuff.co.nz. She runs the Ballance Farm Environment Awards (East Coast Region) from her office on a lifestyle block she owns with husband Thomas in Central Hawke's Bay. Kate has been self-employed as Kate Taylor - CommuniKate, since their first child was born in 2000. She refers to herself sometimes as the slave of none, wife of one, mother of two and sister of three. "I love working with farmers and rural people because the majority are welcoming, down to earth, modest, lovely people who are pleased to be asked to share their story."


Wayne Dellow is the owner and director of Good Communications Limited. His vision is to help businesses succeed and create a happy and productive work environment. The company excels at business coaching, whether its at executive level or coaching your team to become more effective. The psychometric product he specialises in is FinxS, a tool that is head and shoulders above any other tool in the market place.

CHARLOTTE WESTWOOD

2018

Charlotte has extensive experience of the health, reproductive and nutritional challenges faced by dairy herds grazing high quality temperate pastures, including management problems experienced by large pasture-fed herds. She has published a number of papers relating to nutrition / reproduction interactions and recently completed a review investigating relationships between pasture-fed cows and lameness. Charlotte specialises in the successful integration of forage crops, conserved feeds and supplements into pasture-based dairy systems. Charlottes provides technical, training and product development support for dairy clients, veterinarians, farm consultants and several New Zealand feed and agricultural companies.
